Foreign Ownership
Foreigners are allowed to own freehold or leasehold (99 years) residential property not less than RM250,000 and mortgage can be obtained from local banks. There is no limit on the no of units owned by foreigners.

Transaction Cost
Stamp Duty - 1-3% payable by the buyer
Lawyer fee - 1% payable by buyer of resale property, usually not applicable if buy from developer
Agency Fee - 2%-2.75% payable by seller
Other fees - 0.5%


Holding Cost
Assessment Rate (Property Tax)
payable twice a year and based on certain pertage of the annual rental value of the property assessed by the Local Authority.

Quit Rent
Payable once a year at a rate of RM0.01-RM0.02 per sq ft.
